PEI's Festival Calendar: What Else Is Worth Planning a Trip Around
Beyond Cavendish Beach Music Festival and the Shellfish Festival: the Charlottetown Festival and Fall Flavours, with 2026 dates.
1. The Two Everyone Already Knows
Cavendish Beach Music Festival (July) and the PEI International Shellfish Festival (September) already anchor most visitors' idea of PEI's festival scene. Two more deserve equal billing.
2. The Charlottetown Festival
Running at the Confederation Centre of the Arts since 1965, this is the largest musical theatre festival in Atlantic Canada. The 2026 edition runs June 25 to September 26, headlined by two long-running Canadian musicals:

Both run at the Sobey Family Theatre inside the Confederation Centre, in downtown Charlottetown.
3. Fall Flavours Food and Drink Festival
Branded around "Canada's Food Island," Fall Flavours is now in its 18th edition for 2026, running September 24 to October 10. Rather than one central event, it's structured as more than 20 signature experiences spread across the Island, from farm dinners to Mi'kmaq cultural sessions to distillery tours, funded jointly by the Food Island Partnership, the Province, and the federal government.
4. Building a Trip Around These Two
- The Charlottetown Festival's June-September run means it overlaps with almost any summer visit; buying tickets ahead is worthwhile for the marquee shows.
- Fall Flavours falls after peak summer crowds thin out, making late September and early October a genuinely good window to visit PEI for food-focused travellers who want fewer lineups.
- Both festivals publish full event calendars online each spring; specific experience tickets for Fall Flavours often sell out ahead of the festival's opening weekend.
