1. Maritime Electric Is Your Only Option for Grid Power
Maritime Electric is the sole electricity utility on the Island. Setting up service takes one call or one online form, whether you're moving into an existing home or connecting new construction.

3. Heating Is Rarely "Just Electric"
Ask about the primary heating source before you sign a lease or close on a home. Oil, propane, and wood heat remain common across the Island outside newer builds, alongside electric heat pumps. Whoever installed the current heating system determines your ongoing fuel costs and supplier relationship, since oil and propane come from a separate delivery company, not Maritime Electric.
4. Internet Coverage Varies by Address, Not Just by Town
Bell, Rogers, Eastlink, and smaller regional ISPs all serve parts of PEI, but fibre, cable, and rural fixed-wireless availability can change block to block. Confirm serviceability at your exact civic address before signing a contract, especially outside Charlottetown, Stratford, Cornwall, and Summerside.
